Hello all. We’re aware that many of you are wondering about our plans for upcoming Colchester beer festivals in 2022 – Sorry in advance for the long post, but we are now in a position to announce what is going on.

Some background info:

Our branch (Colchester & North East Essex) arranges and runs beers festivals on behalf of CAMRA Head Office, who are required to approve business plans for each festival. Due to the COVID pandemic, CAMRA announced the cancellation all beer festivals in line with Government advice in March 2020.In September 2021 CAMRA announced that beer festivals could once again go ahead in line with Government advice.

Winter Beer Festival (January 2022)

With beer festivals now allowed again, the priority is the safety of our volunteers and our customers – With this in mind, and some logistical issues surrounding the planning of a festival during a pandemic in winter, we are sad to announce that we will not be holding a beer festival in January… We know this will be a disappointment to you all, but with pubs still recovering from the impact of the pandemic, we would encourage those planning to visit the beer festival to visit their locals pubs instead (the branch has a range of fantastic pubs!) and support them in any way you can.

Summer Beer Festival (June 2022)

Now for some good news!! – Plans for the Summer Beer Festival are proceeding! We are already planning the beer festival, taking place at Colchester Arts Centre, during June (1st to 4th) with a new-look layout and measures in place to ensure the safety of all involved. Keep an eye on this site as the year progresses for updates.
